150TH ANNIVERSARY - WORLDWIDE TRIBUTE

CARL NIELSEN - 150 YEAR

The world famous composer, Carl Nielsen (1865-1931) is being celebrated around the world as he would have turned 150 year old in 2015.

International Society, Ensemble Midtvest and Midtvest Pigekor (Girl Choir) also celebrates his anniversary in Herning Church.

Carl Nielsen is considered one of the greatest Danish composers and he was born in 1865 on Funen. He was educated at the Academy of Music in Copenhagen in 1884.

He has written several songs that today is part of the national heritage and represent a common meeting ground for all Danes. Besides these songs, he also wrote extremely complex and radical symphonic songs.

Ensemble Midtvest and Midtvest´s Pigekor will perform an excerpt from Helge Rode´s play "The Mother" retold by the famous actress Kirsten Olesen. In addition to the music from "The Mother", that includes "The Fog Will Lift", Carl Nielsen´s Wind Quintet from 1922 will be performed too.

Excerpts from "The Mother", retold by actress Kirsten Olesen (in Danish):
- "The Children Play for Solo-flute"
- "The Fog Will Lift for Flute and Harp"
- "Faith and Hope Plays for Flute and Viola"
- Songs arranged by the church´s girl choir

The normal price per ticket is 120 kroner.
